It's Time to Reapply for Financial Aid!

Financial aid packages are year specific. Students attending college in : Summer 2023, Fall 2023, and/or Spring 2024 will need to reapply for financial aid. Select "How to Apply" to renew your application. We also offer in-person and Zoom hours to assist students with applying. Select "Financial Aid Application Help - Drop-In Dates/Times" for more information.

Pell Grant Disbursements: Pell Grants are adjusted based on enrollment at time of disbursement for classes starting within 10 days of the Award Calculation Date

  • Getting Started

     
    Applying for the FAFSA or CADAA is a great way to see if you qualify for college funding!

     Steps to take when applying for financial aid:
     
     Step 1: Apply (Beginning in October 1st). Complete and submit the FAFSA or CA Dream Act application and verified Cal Grant GPA. Step 2: Check Insite Portal student email account for further instructions.
     Step 3: Complete required documents, as listed on your checklist on Insite Portal. If you don't have required documents, check your Financial Aid Award Letter. You may have an Award Package waiting!Step 4: Submit your forms/documents to the Office of Financial Aid

    Step 5: Check your Insite Portal for your updated Award Letter and wait for the next check disbursement date. Step 6: Check the Financial Aid Disbursement Schedule. After you receive your award letter, a financial aid disbursement will be processed on the next scheduled disbursement date.

    Do you need help applying for financial aid?  We offer in-person and virtual financial aid lab to assist students with applying for financial aid.  Click "Contact Us" and select the "Lab Hours" tab for dates and times.

    Students can apply for financial aid assistance by completing a financial aid application. Students only need to complete one of the applications annually based on the following eligibility requirements: 

    You are eligible to complete the FAFSA if you are a: You are eligible to complete the CADAA if you are:
    • US Citizen
    • Permanent resident
    • Eligible non-citizen
    • T Visa holder

    • Have a valid or expired DACA
    • A U Visa holder
    • Have Temporary Protected Status (TPS)
    • Meet the non-resident exemption requirements under AB540

    4. Click on Complete Required Documents. Your required documents are listed here with links to the document(s).  Click on the document link(s) and you will be redirected to the form

  • Important Deadlines

    You may submit Financial Aid appeals at any point throughout the semester up until the established deadline for the term. Financial Aid Appeals will be collected, but not processed until grades from the previous term have been posted by the Admissions & Records Office. {Appeal Homepage}

    *Students are responsible for meeting all deadlines advertised below. All Financial Aid correspondences are sent to students’ Insite email. Students are advised to check their Insite email frequently.

    2022-2023 Financial Aid Documentation

    If you are required to submit additional paperwork to determine your eligibility for financial aid, we strongly encourage you to complete the process in a timely manner.  All issues and/or documents stated in your Missing Information Checklist (MICL) on your Insite Portal, must be resolved and/or submitted to the LMC Financial Aid Office by the Summer Payment Document Deadline publicized on the  Financial Aid Payment Calendar - August 25, 2023. (see below) Applicants who fail to provide documentation within the specified time period will not be packaged or awarded aid.

    Financial Aid Disbursement: 

    Financial aid funds are disbursed on scheduled dates each term.  Students who are currently enrolled in an eligible program, have a completed financial aid file and are eligible for a federal and/or state grant will receive a disbursement each semester. Please see Financial Aid Disbursement Calendar for more information on disbursement policy for each grant type.

    To receive your funds, all financial aid recipients MUST select a refund preference through our disbursement provider, BankMobile Disbursements, a technology solution, powered by BMTX, Inc. For more information about BankMobile Disbursements, visit this link:  BankMobile Disbursements

    Follow these steps to select your refund preference to receive your funds:

    • Log in to m.4cd.edu
    • Once logged in, tap the Financial Aid tile
    • Select My FA Disbursements from the menu
    • Select BankMobile-First Time Setup to choose your disbursement method
    • It may ask you to enter the school name. Please type in "Contra Costa." 
  • Important U.S. Department of Education Updates Due to COVID-19

    Changes to Your Family's Financial Situation

    Has your family's financial situation changed significantly from what is reflected on your federal income tax return (e.g.: if you've lost a job or experienced a drop in income)? You may be eligible to have your financial aid adjusted. Discuss your current financial situation with a financial aid advisor today. Financial Aid Advisors

    Attention Federal student loan borrowers! Federal student loan financial relief is available from U.S. Department of Education due to COVID-19. Visit StudentAid.gov/coronavirus for more information.

  • Emergency Grant

    The COVID-19 Emergency Grant is a one-time $1000 grant available to Los Medanos College (LMC) students who are facing unexpected expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to coronavirus.  Funds can be used to pay for any component of the student's cost of attendance or for emergency costs that arise due to the coronavirus, such as tuition, food, housing, health care (including mental health care), or child care.  Funds received do not need to be repaid. 

    The Fall 2022 COVID-19 Emergency Grant application is now OPEN.  Please note this is a one-time $1000 grant. If you previously received the $1000 emergency grant in Fall 2021,  Spring 2022, or Summer 2022 you are not eligible for the Fall  2022 emergency grant.

    Eligibility criteria:

    • Currently enrolled in the Fall 2022 semester
    • Not have previously received the $1000 grant within the Contra Costa Community College District in the Fall 2021 or Spring 2022 semester.
