Established in Spring 2017 by Los Medanos College (LMC) students, the LMC Marketplace—formerly known as the LMC Food Pantry—provides free food, essential resources, and support to students and employees who may be experiencing financial or basic needs challenges.
In 2022, LMC received state Basic Needs funding, allowing the Food Pantry to expand its services and officially become the LMC Marketplace. The Marketplace also introduced a Clothes Closet, offering donated clothing and personal care items to students at no cost.
Today, the LMC Marketplace serves as LMC’s Basic Needs Resource Center, connecting students with food, clothing, personal care items, and referrals to additional campus and community resources. The Basic Needs Coordinator, Student Life Associates, and community partners work together to help students access the support they need to stay focused on their education.
