    Los Medanos College Foundation Student Emergency Aid Program
    HOSTS - Help Our Students To Succeed: Provides financial assistance to students that face unexpected challenges, and helps keep at-risk students on campus and completing their degrees.  Faculty and Staff can refer a student by using the form found HERE. (requires district login)

    SparkPoint (Contra Costa Crisis Center)

    Basic Needs Emergency Housing Grant 
    To support Los Medanos College student basic needs and progress towards graduation, the Basic Needs Emergency Housing Grant program assists eligible students experiencing unexpected economic challenges with financial assistance in the form of a financial aid grant.

     

    Eligibility:  

    • Have an unexpected or extenuating financial challenge (i.e., Displaced and in need of assistance with housing costs, notice of eviction or utility cutoff)
    • Be a currently enrolled Los Medanos College student. (Emergency Housing Grants are available during the fall and spring semesters and only available during the summer months for students actively enrolled and taking Summer Session.)
    • Be able to document the financial crisis with third party verification.   
    • Be willing to work towards economic stability and receive support to improve financial, mental and physical sustainability.  
    • Complete the FAFSA, (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), CADAA (California Dream Act Application), or equivalent.  
    • Complete the application for CalFresh.
    • Be willing to pursue part-time employment and all other means of self-support, if currently unemployed and able to work.  

     

    Application:

    • Complete Basic Needs Application Form
    • Schedule to meet with the Basic Needs Coordinator and/or Basic Needs Representative to review your application. 
    • Provide third party documentation of your financial crisis and/or the urgent financial situation. (i.e. Eviction Notice, Utility Bill, etc.)
