Resources for students with dependent children

Student Services is pleased to provide the following resources and tools to help students with dependent children achieve their goals and minimize the stress balancing student life and parenthood.

  • Child Care Services

    Childcare

The Child Development Department runs a Child Study Center that serves as both a learning laboratory for Child Development majors and also as a child care center for LMC students. Childcare services are available for children from birth to 5 years of age. Services are also open to community families as space allows.

Applications to enroll your child can be accepted by appointment at the Child Study Center.  Please note that it takes up to 24 hours to process an application before your child can begin attending. To schedule an appointment call 925-473-7640

    Lactation

In addition to child care services there are lactation pods and a lactation room for nursing mothers:

    PITTSBURG:

There is a lactation pod located in the main College Complex Level Three (CC3) outside the automotive/welding area across from men’s restroom.

To enter the POD, you can download the MAMAVA app to locate the POD on campus and gain access to the POD.

If you do not have access to a smart device to download the app, you can visit the Welcome Desk in the Student Services Center to obtain the passcode to enter or you may call (925) 473-7434.

There is a lactation room located in the Student Union at the Pittsburg Campus on the 2nd floor, directly across from the elevator. The pod is open during hours of operation and can be locked from the inside.

    BRENTWOOD:
The lactation room is located behind student services in Building 100.  Access to the lactation room may be requested by visiting the Admissions and Records front counter where a staff member will lead students to access the facility.  No reservation is required in advance.
