Classified Senate Council Elections
Thank you for your interest in the Classified Senate Council!
Classified Senate is accepting nominations for the following positions for two-year
term (July 1st, 2026- June 30th, 2028):
- Vice President: 2 year term (1 position)
- Secretary: 2 year term (1 position)
- Senate Council Seat: 2 year term (2 positions)
As a member of the Classified Senate, you will be asked to represent your constituents
on issues that impact Los Medanos College classified employees. Meetings are held
on Mondays, per the Calendar of Monday Meetings set by the President’s Office. Current
meetings are held from 3:00pm to 4:30pm. Since this is a Brown Act meeting, Senate
members will attend meetings in person at the Pittsburg or Brentwood locations. As
per AB 2449, attendance via Zoom is limited: A member may not participate in meetings
solely by teleconference due to “Just Cause” or “Emergency Circumstances” for a period
of more than 3 consecutive months or 20% of the regular meetings within a calendar
year. If the Brown Act body regularly meets less than 10 times a year, a member may
not participate remotely in more than 2 meetings.

The Nomination Form & Letter of Intent must be received by the Classified Senate Election Committee no later than 5pm April
10th, 2026.
Election Timeline:
- Nominations: February: 10th – April 10th, 2026
- Ballots/Voting (As needed): April 24th – May 1st, 2026
- Announce Election Results at Classified Senate meeting: May 11th
- New term starts: July 1st
- CS President
The President duties include, but not limited to the following.
- Attend all Classified Senate, Council, Shared Governance Council (SGC), Classified
Senate Coordinating Council (CSCC) and District Governance Council (DGC) meetings.
The Classified Senate President may delegate this duty to a Classified Senate member
if the officers are unable to attend.
- Be responsible for the preparation of the agenda for all meetings after receiving
input from Classified Professionals.
- Preside over Classified Senate meetings and Council meetings.
- Represent Classified Professionals at Shared Governance Council (SGC), Classified
Senate Coordinating Council (CSCC), District Governance Council (DGC) and other college
and district committees, meetings and functions.
- Sign approved minutes, along with the Secretary.
- Sign approved treasurer’s report along with the Treasurer.
- Provide Orientation for new Council Members.
Compensation is available for Classified Senate duties perform outside of regular
working hours.
- CS Vice President
The Vice President duties include, but not limited to the following.
- Attend all Classified Senate, Council, Shared Governance Council (SGC), Classified
Senate Coordinating Council (CSCC) and District Governance Council (DGC) meetings.
- Assist in all duties of the presidency and perform other related duties as assigned
by the President.
- Serve as Interim President during an absence of the President.
- Succeed to the office of President, upon resignation or removal of President, and
serve the remainder of the year.
- Perform the duties of the Secretary or Treasurer in their absence.
- CS Secretary
The Secretary duties include, but not limited to the following
- Attend all Classified Senate and Council meetings.
- Record and post minutes on the Classified Senate website of all Classified Senate
and Council meetings. A draft is expected to the President within seven (7) calendar
days after the meeting, with a final copy being provided three (3) days before the
next Classified Senate/Council meeting.
- Maintain an archive of all Classified Senate and Council business and correspondence.
- Sign approved minutes, along with the President.
- Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the President.
- CS Treasurer
The Treasurer duties include, but not limited to the following
- Attend all the Classified Senate and Council meetings.
- Be responsible for all monetary collections and disbursements relating to the Classified
Senate.
- Maintain all records pertaining to the financial status of the Classified Senate.
- Prepare a monthly financial report and financial year-end report to be made available
to the Classified Senate..
- Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the President.
- CS Council Member
The Council Members duties include, but not limited to the following
- Attend all the Classified Senate and Council meetings.
- Participate on standing committees as outlined in these bylaws.
- Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the President.
