Our Mission
Caring Campus is compiled of a group of Classified Professionals who wish to encourage
new and current students and ease any transition challenges that may exist. Caring
Campus welcomes and guides students through their journey at Los Medanos College by
demonstrating the Caring Campus Behavioral Commitments. Caring Campus assists students
by showing empathy and patience, so students may feel comfortable and motivated in
our equitable community college setting. Caring Campus welcomes and supports students
by being inclusive to create connections, belonging, and promote success.
Our Vision
Los Medanos College students will be successful, seen, heard, and connected through
the assistance and encouragement of Classified Professionals who go above and beyond

- Taking the initiative to approach students to ask if there is anything you can help
them with
- Calling ahead of walking the student to the office they need to go to

- Reaching out to students via phone, email, or text to let them know you are available
to answer questions and respond to concerns

- Use of Name Tags and "Ask Me" Badges

- Getting to Know Students' Names and Pronouns
TRADITIONAL APPROACH
When interacting with students, introduce yourself and pronouns and ask them for their
name and pronouns. Continue to address them by their name during the conversation.
VIRTUAL APPROACH
When interacting with students:
- via email, address the student by name.
- via phone, introduce yourself and ask for their name.
- via Zoom, have the student update their display name to show their real name.
Continue to address them by their name during the conversation.

Join us at Classified Senate!
LMC Classified Senate represents the diverse voices of our Classified Professionals, and Caring Campus
would like to invite you to attend the Classified Senate meetings.
The meetings are twice a month and are held in a hybrid format from 3 p.m. to 4:30
p.m.
Join us in person at SS4-412 on the Pittsburg Campus or via Zoom.
