     Use College Central Network to promote your On-Campus jobs!

    1. Click on Employers to create an account and once the registration is complete, post your job.

    2. You can direct students to submit their resume through the system or to submit materials directly to you, or fill out a supplemental application on a website.

    TIPS:

    For on-campus positions, please select "on-campus" in the location box when creating your posting.

    If you are only looking for Federal Work Study Students, please note that in the description and in the job type selection.

    Consider these options to expand your advertising of the position:

    • Posting flyers
      If you would like extra promotion of your position you may email Student Life, John Nguyen (knguyen@losmedanos.edu), an 8 1/2" x 11" flyer which will be reproduced and posted on designated boards around campus.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          Please remember to include the College Central Network (CCN) website, https://www.collegecentral.com/losmedanos/ and the job ID # for the posting so students can find it quickly in the CCN database.     Supervisor
    Get Position ID # (PID):
       
    • Supervisors must have a Position ID # (PID) before hiring student workers.
      • How to get a PID? Contact Clarissa Cadena (CCadena@losmedanos.edu) in the LMC Business Office to create/confirm a PID # under the corresponding GL.
    Step 2:
    Supervisor
    Complete Districtwide Student Hire Card (Referral Card)
       

    NOTE: Students cannot be allowed to work until Transfer and Career Services receives the employment paperworkFood Services and Child Development: Please remember that students need to submit their TB Test Clearance together with the Districtwide Student Hire Card (Referral Card).

    • Give the Districtwide Student Hire Card (Referral Card) to the student and the student will be responsible to bring it to the Transfer and Career Services/Employment Services.
    Step 3:
    Student
    Bring Districtwide Student Hire Card to Transfer and Career Services/ Employment Center
       
    • After the supervisor has given the Districtwide Hire Card to the student, student is responsible to fill out employment paperwork.
    • Student must bring two forms of proper Identification to fill out paperwork (See: Form I-9 List of Acceptable Documents)
    • Filling out Employment Paperwork
    Step 4:

    • Supervisor will get an email notification once the student employment paperwork has been processed, and until then students can start work.

     

    Please remember students cannot begin working until student hiring paperwork has been processed by Human Resources/Payroll. Due to liability reasons students are not legally employees until they are enrolled by the District.

    • Eligible student workers must be taking:
      • 6 units during Fall/Spring semester
      • 3 units during Summer
    • If they drop below this number their supervisors must terminate the student employment immediately.

    Step 1:
    Supervisor
    Find out if student is eligible for FWS
       
    • Contact Eva Monteverde (emonteverde@losmedanos.edu) in Financial Aid to make sure that the student is indeed eligible for FWS.
    • After Eva Monteverde has confirmed student’s FWS eligibility, she will email the FWS Districtwide Student Hire Card (Referral Card) and FWS Contract to you.
    Step 2:
    Supervisor
    Complete the Federal Work Study (FWS) Districtwide Student Hire Card (Referral Card)
       
    • Fill out the FWS Districtwide Student Hire Card (Referral Card) and FWS Contract, Eva Monteverde emailed you.

     Hiring/Re-hiring CalWORKS students

    1. When you (the supervisors) decide on who you want to hire, confirm with CalWORKS to make sure that the student is indeed eligible for CalWORKS.

     2. After CalWORKS has confirmed student is eligibility, you would get an email you the CalWORKS Districtwide Student Hire Card (Referral Card).

    • Fill out the CalWORKS Districtwide Student Hire Card (Referral Card).(NOTE: Students cannot be allowed to work until Transfer and Career Services receives the employment paperwork.)
    • Food Services and Child Development: Please remember that students need to submit their TB Test Clearance together with the CalWORKS Districtwide Student Hire Card (Referral Card).
    • Give the CalWORKS Districtwide Student Hire Card (Referral Card) to the student and the student will be responsible to bring it to the Transfer and Career Services/ Employment Services.

    3. Student must make an appointment with Employment Services online to fill out employment paperwork.

    4. Please remember students cannot begin working until student hiring paperwork has been processed by Human Resources/Payroll. The supervisor will receive the Student Employment Processing Confirmation receipt stating when the student can start to work. Due to liability reasons students are not legally employees until they are enrolled by the District..

    Please note: Eligible student workers must be taking 6 units during Fall/Spring semester employment and 3 units during Summer employment. If they drop below this number their supervisors must terminate the student employment immediately. Additionally, students need to maintain a 2.0 GPA to be eligible to work on-campus. Federal Work Study students will immediately lose funding eligibility if they drop below 2.0. If you have questions about work options for non-FWS students who drop below 2.0 please contact employment services to discuss case-by-case situations.

    Student can begin work ONLY after they have processed their paperwork.

    Due to liability reasons students are not legally employees until they are enrolled by the District.

  • Hiring/ Re-Hiring International Students

    Hiring/ Re-Hiring International Students:

    Before Hiring International Students

    • International students may be hired to work on campus provided that they are, and remain, in the appropriate immigration status and must be authorized to work in the United States.
    • International students must be registered as full-time students and maintain satisfactory academic progress while pursuing their education.
    • International students must obtain a social security number from the Social Security Administration office.

    Obtain Social Security Card
       
    • Before the student comes to the Student Employment Center to fill out paperwork, student must obtain a social security card from the Social Security Administration office.
      1. To obtain a social security number, the student must take the completed Districtwide Student Hire Card (Referral Card) to the LMC Admissions and Records Office.

      2. Admissions & Records will provide the student with a letter to bring to the Social Security Administration office along with other necessary identification.

      3. After applying for a social security number, it can take up to 3 weeks to receive the card.

    Closest Social Security Administration office to LMC:  2508 Verne Roberts Circle, Antioch, CA

    Step 4: 
    Student 
    Bring Districtwide Student Hire Card to Transfer and Career Services/ Employment Center
       
    • After student receives the Social Security card, then student needs to make an appointment with Danna Chavez (dchavez@losmedanos.edu) to fill out the hiring paperwork.
    • Student must bring the following documents to the appointment with Danna Chavez:
      1. Districtwide Student Hire Card (Referral Card)
      2. Current Foreign Passport
      3. Social Security Card
      4. Current I-94 (Arrival/Departure Record)
      5. I-20 (Certificate of Eligibility for Non-immigrant Student Status)
    Step 5:
    Supervisor
    Student Employment Paperwork Process Confirmation
       
    • Supervisor will get an email notification once the student employment paperwork has been processed, and until then students can start work. 

    Please remember students cannot begin working until student hiring paperwork has been processed by Human Resources/Payroll. Due to liability reasons students are not legally employees until they are enrolled by the District.

      • Employment Services has partnered with Student Life who oversees tabling on-campus to allow employers who have posted opportunities in College Central Network to table 11am - 1pm the 1st Wednesday of each month for free, space permitting.
      • If you would like to reserve a table, please contact Student Life at (925) 473-7554. Tabling at other days/times is $50 per table; for non-profits this fee may be waived.
