Early Childhood Education

There are three degree pathways in ECE at LMC, our AS-T and two local AS degrees:

AS-T in Early Childhood Education

The Associate of Science Degree in Early Childhood Education for Transfer is an AS-T degree designed for students who complete this program to be able to complete their upper division coursework in only two additional years at a CSU.

Recommended Course Pathway to earn AS-T in Early Childhood Education

  • Fall 1
    • ECE 1 Principles and Practices of Teaching Young Children (Major Requirement and Area E) 3 units
    • ECE 83 Field Experience in an Early Childhood Program (Major Requirement) 3 units *or Spring 1 (switched with ECE/CHDEV 10)
    • ENGL C1000 Academic Reading & Writing  3 units
    • COMM C1000 Introduction to Public Speaking  3 units
    • ECE/CHDEV 30, 40, or 55 choose just one. 3 units, *if you do not take MATH120 or ECE083, take one of these courses.
