On average, more than 750 LMC students transfer each year to UC, CSUs, in-state private and out-of-state universities. To celebrate their accomplishment, LMC is hosting a spirit day, complete with food, music, inflatables, a dunk tank, and more.

Interview opportunities: Transfer students will be available for media interviews. Interim Director of Transfer and Career Services Cynthia Perez-Nicholas will be available to speak on behalf of LMC.

More information: LMC is part of the Contra Costa Community College District (4CD), which includes Contra Costa College and Diablo Valley College. Among the three schools, about 2,800 students transfer to a 4-year college each year.

Completing the first two years of higher education at a community college can be a game-changer for many students, thanks to free tuition provided to students who take a full load (12 credits per semester).

At a time when high school students are finding it more challenging to gain admittance to a UC as a freshman, students earn admittance at higher rates as incoming juniors. For example, UC Berkeley had an 11% acceptance rate for freshman in 2024, compared to 25.4% for transfer students that year. Of these students, 93% are from community colleges, and 44% are first-generation college-going students.
