Los Medanos College kicks off its Equity Speaker Series with Juan González

Renown author lends insights from experience as journalist and co-host of “Democracy Now!”

Pittsburg, Calif. – Los Medanos College (LMC) is pleased to announce renowned journalist and author Juan González will kick off the Equity Speaker Series. His presentation will be from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 6, at the LMC Pittsburg Campus Student Union Conference Center, 2700 E. Leland Road.

Admission is free, and attendees are encouraged to arrive early to secure seating.

González, an esteemed journalist and author, is known for poignant reporting on labor, immigration, and social justice. He received the George Polk Award and authored “Harvest of Empire: A History of Latinos in America.”

The Equity Speakers Series aims to bring influential figures to campus to foster dialogue, raise awareness, and promote understanding. By hosting González, LMC continues its commitment to providing a platform for diverse perspectives and creating an inclusive environment for intellectual growth.

LMC’s Puente Club, Office of Equity and Inclusion, Department of Journalism, and Department of Ethnic Studies and Social Studies partnered to sponsor this event.
