LMC offers free tuition for two years

New opportunity for full-time students

Full-time students can attend Los Medanos College tuition-free for up to two years. This new offer is an enhancement to the program that limited free tuition to first-time full-time students. 

“This is a game changer for continuing and returning students who previously did not qualify for the program,” said Tammy Oranje, director of Financial Aid. “Now, students who meet eligibility requirements can attend full-time for free, whether it’s their first semester of fourth semester.”  
 
Last fall, LMC had 2,570 full-time students, but only 689 were first-time students who qualified for free tuition under the old program. This fall nearly all 2,953 full-time students could qualify for free tuition.

Students qualify for free tuition when they register in 12 credit units and complete a financial aid application, regardless of income. Students are not required to qualify for financial aid, demonstrate financial need or meet any income requirements. This tuition waiver is like a grant, meaning that unlike a loan, students do not need to repay the money. Students are responsible for other expenses such as books, supplies, and materials fees required by their classes.
