Pittsburg, Calif. – Rachel Anicetti this fall was named interim dean of Liberal Arts & Sciences, effective Aug. 1. She steps into the role, replacing Aprill Nogarr, who returned to her faculty position in the college.

“Rachel has been key to many of our student success initiatives, always keeping the student experience in mind and finding ways to eliminate barriers to their success,” Interim Vice President of Instruction A’kilah Smith said.

Anicetti had served as the Transfer Center director since 2017, where she helped lead initiatives, such as Strategic Enrollment Management, Guided Pathways and Articulation Development. Each of these initiatives helped students navigate the college system, take the proper order of courses to complete requirements needed to enter four-year institutions, achieve associate degrees, or certificates to advance their careers.

Anicetti had served previously as LMC’s Transfer Center coordinator. She also has experience working in community organizations helping Bay Area youth who were homeless or in need of and mental health support or college access assistance. She holds a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of California, Santa Cruz and master’s degree in social work from California State University, East Bay.
