Start early to think about your career choices in high school. Talk with your counselors, teachers, and parents. Take the appropriate courses in high school for the career/s you are interested in, so that you are well prepared for college.  You may even be able to take some college courses while you are still in high school either at your high school or at Los Medanos College. Attend Los Medanos College and graduate with a certificate or degree from one of our excellent selection of Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs.  Join one of our partner businesses or industries and earn a good income to launch your future.

The world has shrunk and businesses and employees face global competition like never before.  To succeed in this environment, businesses select the brightest and most skilled employees with an excellent work ethic.

Career choices are more varied today than ever before.  New careers in technology, manufacturing, health, bio-tech, “green” industry, business, education, services, etc are excellent options for well-prepared and skilled graduates.  pictures of studentsMany of these careers are high-skill, high-tech, and high-wage. Some of them require a technical certificate that community colleges like Los Medanos College are adept at offering.  Others require a two-year or a four-year degree and general education courses in addition to the courses in the major in the technical field of your choice.  You can complete the two-year degree at Los Medanos College before you enter the workforce or transfer to a four-year college.

Los Medanos College, in partnership with its feeder high schools, ROP, Adult Education, CSU, and industry/business partners, has established several career pathways from school to college to work.

Join a career pathway in high school, transfer to LMC, and let us help you launch your successful career leading to a bright future!
