
Historic Season for LMC Women’s Basketball:
Record Wins and First Playoff Victory
The 2025-26 season will go down in Los Medanos College women’s basketball history
as one of the most remarkable campaigns the program has ever seen. Under the leadership
of Head Coach Mario Pharr, assistant coaches Vic Duenas & Murkice Carter, the Lady
Mustangs finished with a 21-9 overall record and 10-4 in Bay Valley Conference play,
setting a new program record for wins and earning their first-ever playoff victory.
Dominance at Home and Strong Road Performance
The Lady Mustangs were nearly unstoppable at home, posting an 11-2 record, and showed
resilience on the road with 9 wins. Their season included commanding victories over
Foothill (104-47) and Diablo Valley (96-35), showcasing the team’s offensive firepower
and defensive intensity.
Conference Highlights
In the Bay Valley Conference, LMC finished with a .714 winning percentage, cementing
their status as a top contender. Key conference victories over Mendocino (87-29),
Solano (68-50), and Yuba (69-56) underscored the squad’s consistency and ability to
perform in high-pressure situations.
Breaking New Ground in the Postseason
The crowning achievement of the year came in the postseason, when the Lady Mustangs
won their first playoff game in program history, defeating Siskiyous 77-58 in the
NorCal Regionals Round 1. Though their run ended with a loss at Folsom Lake (63-42),
this historic postseason appearance marked a milestone for the program and set a new
standard for future squads.
Athletic Director Marty Storti praised the team’s achievements:

The Lady Mustangs have set a new benchmark for LMC women’s basketball, and we couldn’t
be prouder of what Coach Pharr and his team accomplished."

Mario Pharr hired as Head Women's Basketball Coach
Mario Pharr II is a seasoned basketball coach and educator with a wealth of experience in both collegiate and community-level coaching. Graduating from North Carolina State University with dual Bachelor's degrees in Sport Management and Education-General Studies, Mario's journey into coaching began with a passion for the game and a commitment to mentorship. Over the years, he has held various coaching positions, including Head Coach roles at Harford Community College and Blue Lights College, where he demonstrated his ability to develop successful team cultures and foster academic and athletic excellence among his players.
Mario's coaching philosophy emphasizes not only on-court performance but also the holistic development of student-athletes, providing them with the skills, confidence, and discipline needed for success both on and off the court. In addition to his coaching roles, Mario is the Founder and CEO of Go Far Athletics, a specialized performance and training organization dedicated to helping athletes of all ages reach their full potential. With his extensive coaching experience, commitment to excellence, and dedication to player development, Mario continues to make a significant impact in the world of basketball.
