Livable Wage Attainment

Data Vista Metric Definition: Proportion of Students After Exit Who Attained the Living Wage.  Among students in selected student journey who exited the community college system and who did not transfer to any postsecondary institution, the proportion who attained the district county living wage for a single adult measured immediately following the academic year of exit

    The multi-series line chart compares the percentage of students who attained a livable wage for all students, Black/African American students, First Generation students, male students, and the benchmark for the top five Bay Area colleges from 2015–16 through 2023–24. Overall rates increased from 27.98% in 2015–16 to 35.76% in 2023–24, with some fluctuations during the period. Black/African American student rates increased from 24.0% to 33.84%, reaching a high of 34.07% in 2022–23 before declining slightly in the final year. First Generation student rates rose from 25.79% in 2015–16 to a high of 36.86% in 2022–23 before ending at 34.48% in 2023–24. Male student rates remained above the college’s overall rate throughout the period, ranging from 32.2% to 39.35% and ending at 38.4%. The Top 5 Bay Area benchmark remained substantially higher than the college’s overall rate throughout the period, ranging from 45.64% to 54.76% and ending at 53.93% in 2023–24.
