in the Same College. Among all applicants who indicated an intent to enroll in the
selected college in the selected year as a general admit student for the first time,
the proportion of cohort students who enrolled in the same community college in the
selected year

The multi-series chart compares rates for all students, Black/African American students,
male students, and the benchmark for the top five Bay Area colleges from 2016–17 through
2024–25. Overall rates fluctuated considerably during the nine-year period, ranging
from a low of 15.18% in 2020–21 to a high of 36.33% in 2021–22 and ending at 24.40%
in 2024–25. Black/African American student rates followed a similar pattern, increasing
from 17.93% in 2016–17 to 29.82% in 2019–20, declining to 13.27% in 2020–21, and recovering
to 28.89% by 2024–25. Rates for male students ranged from 14.70% in 2020–21 to 38.84%
in 2021–22 and ended at 23.46%. The Top 5 Bay Area benchmarks were comparatively more
stable, ranging from 20.66% to 29.76%. The benchmark reached its highest rate of 29.76%
in 2023–24 before declining to 21.33% in 2024–25. Across all groups, 2020–21 marked
a notable decline, followed by substantial increases in 2021–22 and continued year-to-year
variation through 2024–25.
