What to do if Federal Immigration Officials are on Campus
• Guide the Officer to the Office of the President
- Escort the officer to the President’s Office stating, “I will guide you to the appropriate office." If you are at a college center, escort the officer to the Dean’s Office.
- If after hours, call the president at extension 925-473-7301, and call LMC Police Services, 925-473-7332 for non-emergencies, and 925-646-2441 for after-hours dispatch. They will find the college president or a designee to respond.

LMC Police Services
LMC Police Services will not enter into agreements with law enforcement agencies or federal departments for the enforcement of federal immigration law. They will not honor immigration hold requests; and will not contact, detain, question or arrest individuals solely based on declared or suspected immigration status. California Laws (AB 21 and SB 54) prohibit law enforcement agencies, including campus police forces, from using resources (i.e., money or officers) to support immigration enforcement. Therefore, Police Services will not contact, detain, question, or arrest any individual based solely on suspected undocumented
LMC is an open campus
Although Los Medanos College is a public institution, there are areas on campus that have limited access, including classrooms, locked offices or areas marked as “authorized personnel” that cannot be accessed without official permission from the Contra Costa Community College District.
Federal law protects student information
LMC employees MAY NOT release student information to law enforcement officials without permission from the President of LMC. Student information is governed by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), which protects student data.
California Laws (AB 21 and SB 54)

Therefore, Campus Police will not contact, detain, question, or arrest any individual based solely on suspected undocumented immigration status or inquire about an individual’s immigration status.
