Pittsburg, Calif. – Los Medanos College Mustangs charge into post-season baseball as the 2025 Bay Valley
Conference Co-Champions with Laney College Eagles and tied records of 18-3.
Los Medanos College (14 seed) heads to the 3C2A Baseball Northern California Regional Playoffs against Butte College (11 seed), which finished its season with a 16-9 conference record. Butte’s overall record is 26-14 and LMC’s is 26-13.
The first game of the series will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 1 at Butte, 3536 Butte Campus Dr., Oroville, CA 95965. The second game is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Saturday and could go into a double header at 2 p.m. if a third game is needed to determine the series winner.
The victor moves on to Northern California Super Regional Playoffs in early June.
“LMC Baseball continues to impress with now a fourth consecutive year at the top of the table in the Bay Valley Conference,” LMC Athletic Director Marty Storti said. “Again, the team has surpassed expectations with the most conference wins we’ve had in at least the past five years.”
Storti praised Harmen Sidhu, LMC baseball head coach, whose second year at the helm continued the college’s winning streak.
“He has done an outstanding job of leading this team, making sure players are focused as much on their academic as on their athletic achievements,” Storti said. He added that coaches and faculty help athletes focus on academics through a pilot program called the Student-Athlete Academy.
“These players have exhausting schedules,” he said. “They are juggling academics and athletics, and many of them work. They put a lot of effort into everything they do. The Student-Athlete Academy is designed to make sure student-athletes get the best educational experience possible. It involves a collection of general education requirements taught by faculty who have a special interest in teaching student-athletes, and the courses are scheduled to align with their practice and game schedules, so they don’t miss class.”
