Transfer & Career Services

Your path to transfer and career success!

Your steps to transfer success

For those who are already properly registered as students at LMC (if not click here) and have already submitted previous high school or college transcripts to the Admissions & Records Office.

The transfer process can be confusing. We're here to help!

Where to Start at LMC

Congratulations! You've decided to explore transferring from LMC to complete a bachelor's degree at a college or university!

2Plan Courses According to Major and Transfer Goals

Explore careers and majors that highlight your skills, abilities, interests and vision for the future. General Education (IGETC and CSU-GE) fufill many transfer requirements, but you may transfer more quickly if you choose courses specific to your major, and the school you want to transfer to!

4Apply!

Congratulations, you're ready to apply for transfer!

  • Final Year Transfer Checklist: most colleges & universities want you to submit an application one year before you transfer. Think of it as having a senior year at LMC. Follow this year-long checklist to make sure you're on track every month.
  • Apply for Academic Renewal
  • How to Apply: Applications are different for each type of school system. Go to this page to read instructions for applying to UCs, CSUs, Private colleges, and Out of State colleges.

  • Attend a Workshop: Transfer Services holds many workshops during the year on a variety of application topics- how to fill out an application, how to write a personal statement, how to apply for financial aid/scholarships, etc.
  • Apply for Financial Aid: FAFSA and California Dream Act applications will open on October 1, 2016, and will ask you to provide information from your 2015 taxes. Apply by March 2, 2016, and make sure to list every school that you've applied to in the application

5Next Steps After Application Submission

  • CHECK YOUR EMAIL: Every. Day. Make sure to follow the steps and to-do items listed by the college you applied to.
  • Supplemental Applications: check to see if the program you applied for requires a supplemental application. Common programs requiring supplemental applications:
      • EOPS
      • Nursing Majors
      • UC Berkeley
      • San Diego State University
  • Submit Documents: colleges will ask for more information, including Fall Transcripts, Tax Documents, and more. Check the handouts below to see when things are due:
  • Moving to Go to School? Apply for On- or Off-Campus Housing (resources coming soon)
  • Apply For Graduation: Even if you're not planning on walking in the ceremony, apply for graduation (*don't apply until your last semester before transferring*) to certify your AD-T, IGETC, and CSU-GE
  • Didn't Get In? Appeal Your Admissions Decision: Most colleges will offer an opportunity to appeal if your application is rejected. There's a strict timeline for appeals- read this and act ASAP to have the best chance of success!
