As a Puente student, you will have many opportunities to experience different situations that will help you grow as a student and as a person. One of those experiences can be working behind the scenes of the Puente Program. It takes a lot of effort and time to put together the events and field trips that you have experienced as a Puente student; here's your chance to partake in that planning with a job working as a Puente Program intern. As an intern, you will be responsible for putting together packets for field trips, organizing the itinerary, and mapping out locations. The only requirements are:

  • The applicant must be or will be a former Puente student at the start of the semester which they are applying for with at least a grade of B in their Engl. 100 class
  • Have basic knowledge of Microsoft Word
  • Able to be an intern for at least a year (two semesters)
  • Must be a self-starter. You will be working directly with Maria Tuttle and Marco Godinez, and they won't be available to answer questions right away due to teaching or counseling engagements
  • Need to be available for a minimum of eight hours per week (hours will vary each week with each event or program need)

Si Se Puede CakeIf you are chosen to be an intern, you will have the option of using whatever hours you acquire to put towards earning credits towards your educational goal at Los Medanos OR you can get paid hourly. All applications for the Puente Program internship will be evaluated and chosen based on their qualifications, how well the applicant did in Engl. 90 and 100, and how well the applicant kept up with their counseling appointments with Marco. So if you think you've got what it takes to be able to help out behind the scenes and possibly contribute new ideas to the Puente Program, click on the link below to download the internship application.
