Los Medanos College (LMC) will be joining California Community Colleges and the Community College League of California in advocacy and activities to support and build awareness about undocumented students throughout the state.

In solidarity as a district, we will continue to offer CA Dreamers access to education and have put policies in place to keep both you and your personal information protected. District Resolution 1-S and the California Community Colleges Chancellor's Office continues to offer support to our CA Dreamer Act.

    Initial DACA Legal Screening Workshop 

    Wanna apply to DACA for the first time? Please join us to hear a short presentation explaining how you can apply to DACA for the first time. This presentation will be followed by a DACA legal screening for all interested attendees and the opportunity to ask your immigration questions to an immigration attorney. 


    Traveling with Advance Parole, Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS), and Other Immigration Benefits 

    Are you interested in traveling as an undocumented student? Join us to hear about Advance Parole (permit to travel abroad), its requirements, its risks and benefits and traveling within or outside of the US as an undocumented student. Also, learn about SIJS (Special Immigration Juvenile Status) and the ways to obtain a green card or legal permanent residency in the US.

    The 10th Annual District-wide Dreamers Conference hosted by Diablo Valley College presented the theme “Sharing Our Stories to Inspire Action.”

    When individuals speak up, share their perspectives, and express their ideas, people with power are forced to listen to the demands for change. The workshops offered during the 3-day conference included testimonials and personal stories from undocumented students.

Providing resources for Dreamers, Mixed Status, and Undocumented Students, Los Medanos College has planned an exciting week of events consisting of webinars, resources, and other activities, all which show solidarity with our undocumented community.

    Dreamers Conference 2020: Empowering the Dream

    Learn about opportunities and resources available for undocumented high school and college students, parents, educators and their allies through:

    Workshops on immigration rules and policies, scholarships, financial aid, entrepreneurship, stress management, family preparedness and other subjects that impact undocumented students!

    Jose Antonio Vargas, a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, Emmy-nominated filmmaker, and Tony-nominated producer will be the keynote speaker. He is a leading voice for the human rights of immigrants, he founded the non-profit media and culture organization Define American, named one of the World’s Most Innovative Companies by Fast Company.

    The Office of Equity & Inclusion is excited to announce that Undocumented Student Week of Action is October 14-18, 2019. In partnership with the Community College League of California (CCLC), the California Community Colleges have planned activities and events to show support and solidarity with our undocumented community. Los Medanos College has planned a week of events consisting of workshops, a resource fair, expression events, and other activities, all which show solidarity with our undocumented community.

    CASH FOR COLLEGE:
    AWAKENING THE DREAM


    Please join us for workshops to learn about financial aid, drop-in legal consultation, and resources for college.  Bring your paperwork and fill out the CA Dream Act, FAFSA, and other financial aid forms at our drop in lab with campus financial aid administrators. 

    Bring relevant documents and work directly with legal counsel in drop in, first come first serve appointments. This conference welcomes Dreamers, Mixed Status Students, Allies and Families.
