It’s a simple concept, really.

Courses are “linked” or arranged together with a common theme, common materials, and common content. The same group of students enroll in 2 or more classes and share learning and social experiences.

(Formerly DRAMA 30S) Film screenings, lectures, classroom discussions, and readings on Chicano/Raza experience and theory of cinema as seen by mainstream culture and by Chicano/Raza filmmakers. Students will screen film works in the areas of documentary, narrative, experimental, and other film genre and develop critical perspectives of film as a reflection of the values of society. Fulfills Ethnic Studies requirement.

(Formerly HIST 52LS) This course chronicles Mexican American history and life from 1900 to the present. The course will cover the social, political and economic issues that have been relevant and important to the Mexican American experience. Issues such as immigration, labor, gender roles, community organizations and social protest movements will be among the specific issues covered.

(Formerly ENGL 915) Do you need help with research papers? ENGLISH 115: WRITING THE RESEARCH PAPER will help you acquire the research, writing, and editing skills you need to build an effective college level Research Essay, such as those required in your English 100, English 221, Phil 2, History 34, Music 12 and other transfer level research courses. English 115 requires one "start -to-finish" research essay.

Introduction to various career possibilities in the field of Child Development and the study of the various philosophies and curriculum approaches used for educating young children. Students will become aware of important professional organizations working on behalf of teachers, children, and families while also developing advocacy skills. Required for Child Development majors.

ENGL 70 is the entry level English course in a sequence leading to ENGL 90 and college composition. Students will learn skills for reading book length works, techniques for improving comprehension and retention, and guidelines for writing in response to readings.

Students are introduced to college level reading, writing and critical thinking skills and are given practice in developing them. Students will learn skills for reading passages of various lengths and styles, techniques for improving comprehension and retention, and guidelines for writing effective lively paragraphs and expository essays. (Students who have successfully completed ENGL 8 and 18 are eligible to enroll in ENGL 90.)
