Home of the Mustangs
For the second year in a row, and the third in the past four seasons, the LMC Baseball team will be competing in the State Baseball Championship Tournament. LMC finished with a 14-10 conference record, and will be one of four teams representing the Bay Valley Conference in the tournament. Head Coach Anthony D’Albora talked about the 2013 team, “We knew coming in to the season we had a talented group here at LMC. I am very proud that this group will get the opportunity to compete for a State Championship. It speaks a lot to the leadership of our sophomores, who are back for a second time, and a lot about the consistency of this program and these players.” The Mustangs will open their playoff run on Tuesday, April 30th at 2:00 p.m. against Mission College. For full playoff coverage go to www.cccbca.com. (Posted 5/3/13)
The LMC Baseball Team accomplished a lot on the field in 2013 and they were rewarded with seven selections on the Bay Valley All-Conference List. Below are the Mustang selections:

Pitcher: Peter Nyznyk

“This is a great accomplishment for us to place seven players on the All-Conference list. Two players (Kelly Starnes and Peter Nyznyk) were rewarded with the second consecutive year of being recognized for their performance throughout the year, and five first timers who put up quality numbers for us as well,” explained Head Coach Anthony D’Albora. “This speaks a lot to the level of talent we have here at LMC, but more than anything it is deserved recognition for the outstanding work ethic of seven great members of our baseball program.” (Posted 5/3/13)
With the season fast approaching, the 2013 LMC Baseball team will hold their 2nd Annual Cardinal vs. White Classic fundraiser intersquad game at 1pm on Saturday January 26th. Head Coach Anthony D'Albora described the meaning behind the game, "For us this game is very important. Sure, it's a great way to try to fundraise some money for the program, but the most important part for us as a team is to excite the community about what it is we are doing here and help our guys prepare for the beginning of the season. I explained to the group this game serves as a dress rehearsal for us. It's a great chance to shake out some of the nerves that come with playing your first college baseball game in front of an audience. Hopefully the group will get more comfortable competing with one another, and better understand the pace it's going to take for them to be great. Beyond that I hope we get thousands of fans and supporters to show up and see for themselves why we believe this group has a chance to be very good on the field." Tickets for the game are $10 and can be purchased from any LMC player or coach, or at the field on the day of the game. For any questions about the game or the 2013 LMC Mustangs please contact Head Coach Anthony D'Albora at aedalbora@gmail.com.
After a very successful 2012 campaign the Los Medanos College baseball program was rewarded with seven selections to the All-Conference Team for the Bay Valley Conference. Head Coach Casey Coakley was very proud of the accomplishments of his players, "This is a great honor for our program, but especially for the hard work these seven young men put in every day on and off the field. At the end of the day these guys cared about finding ways to win games as a group and compete at the highest level but, when the dust settles a bit, it is always great for these players to receive the praise they deserve for the parts they played in our team's successful season."

Infield: Anthony Nicolosi (1B), Cody Stephens (SS)

The Los Medanos College Baseball program announced the winners of their first annual end of the season team award winners. These awards were voted on by the players and coaches of the LMC team. Assistant Coach Anthony D'Albora explained the importance of these awards, "We are really excited to start a new tradition here at LMC with these end of the season awards. Sometimes post season awards are watered down by numbers and they loose the personality and culture of what makes those players so great. We feel like these awards, as voted on by the people who grind at the game here at LMC every day speak perfectly to our culture and the type of people that are moving on through our program."
Pitcher of the Year: Left handed pitcher Chris Lovejoy was selected as the best pitcher from the 2012 season. Lovejoy ended the season with the team lead in innings (109.1), strikeouts (74), earned run average (2.39), and tied for the team lead in wins (8).
Defensive Player of the Year: Freshman CF Kelly Starnes was selected as the top defensive player for the 2012 season. Starnes led the team in outfield assists, and more than any number earned the selection with his amazing ability to catch just about everything hit in the air.
Most Valuable Player: Sophomore RHP/OF Blake Hanestad was selected as the LMC Most Valuable Player for his contributions both on the mound and at the plate. Hanestad had a 2.51 earned run average, with three wins and three saves in sixty one innings of work on the mound. At the plate he hit .303, with forty three hits and thirty runs driven in.
Jerry Coakley Mustang of the Year: The Mustang of the Year Award was give to both Freshman INF Matt McHenry and Sophomore OF Jake Westhorpe. "The Mustang of the Year Award is the most special award in my opinion," explained Coach D'Albora. "This award is given to the player who best embodies the culture and pride of the LMC program: Loyalty Merit Champion."
