Fundraising events

Each year the Classified Senate plans fundraising events to raise money for student scholarships.

On May 8, 2016 we awarded $4700.00 in scholarships to deserving students. Scholarships were awarded to the following: Continuing Students: Casey Caruso, Christopher Fabbri and Marcy Tegtmeier. Transferring Students: Deborah Baskin, Rubyann Brin-Magpoc, Janette Bustos-Barocio, Sarah Miller, Joshua Oseguera, Rajat Paul and Vanessa Rahimi. We also gave our yearly $300.00 contribution to the Kennedy King Scholarship. Congratulations to each of the recipients!!!

Thanks are also extended to Linda Kohler and Sandi Schmidt for reading the applications and rating them. This is a very time consuming process due to the large number of applications we receive.

In addition to the fundraising efforts listed below we have several employees who donate through monthly payroll donations - thank you! We also want to thank a very special professor who donates money to our fundraising efforts each year - Lois Yamakoshi. Thank you to everyone who contributes in any way to this great effort.

A special thank you to Nicole Almassey as the "Basket Queen" who collects donations and prepares beautiful baskets for each of the fundraisers which adds to our proceeds. Thank you Nicole you are appreciated!

Below is a list of some of the events we have hosted and the money we raised at each event.

Pizza Lunch

Pizza Lunch

The Classified Senate typically hosts a Pizza Lunch each year on the required Flex day which is our opening day meeting for the entire college. This kicks-off our yearly fundraising activities.

On August 14, 201 we raised $122.39 towards our student scholarships. Thank you to the Classified Senate members who helped to package, deliver and enjoy a great lunch on a very busy day. (There hasn't been a Pizza Lunch since August 14, 2015.)

Soup cookoff

Soup Cookoff

On November 8, 2016 the Classified Senate hosted the 7th Annual Soup Cookoff. The committee headed by Shondra West provided a lively competition of LMC cooks from faculty, staff and students. As usual the soup sold out and everyone left happy and full. We raised $949.00 for student scholarships and our thanks go to all of the great cooks, and the helpers that day who sold tickets, soup and provided any help needed. Another popular fundraiser for the entire campus.
