Luis Zuniga

Luis attended the National Conservatory in his native Panama. After graduating from high school, Luis received degrees in audio engineering, MIDI production, and performance from Shoreline Community College in Seattle, Washington. In addition, Luis completed his Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Miami, Florida and a Master of Musical Arts in saxophone performance from the University of California, Los Angeles. In 2010 during his graduate research, Luis was a member of the world-renowned saxophone class of Jean-Yves Fourmeau in Paris, France. In 2011, Dr. Zuniga received his doctorate of musical arts degree in saxophone performance and pedagogy from the University of Colorado, Boulder.

He has appeared in concert halls such as the Grand National Theatre of Panama, Lincoln Theatre, Walt Disney Concert Hall, Lincoln Center’s Avery Fisher Hall and Boettcher Concert Hall. He has performed with the New World Symphony, Miami Symphony, Colorado Symphony, the Panama National Symphony, and the Idyllwild Arts Academy Orchestra. As a performer and educator, Luis has appeared throughout North and Central America and Europe.

Dr. Zuniga is the Orchestra and Band director at Los Medanos College in Contra Costa County, California and is a Selmer Paris and D'Addario Woodwinds endorsed artist/clinician.
