“If you do not make time for your wellness, you will be forced to make time for your illness”- unknown

  • Overview of the Wellness Wheel

“Wellness is an active process of becoming aware and making choices toward a healthy and fulfilling life. Wellness is more than being free from illness, it is a dynamic process of change and growth.” - From UC Davis: Student Health and Counseling Service

“A conscious, self-directed and evolving process of achieving full potential.” -The National Wellness Institute

There are many definitions of Wellness. Most include the concept that part of the process of being well involves awareness and making conscious choices to improve your wellness.

There are also many variations of the Wellness Wheel we have pictured on this webpage- original source unknown. Each recognizes that there are multiple components of wellness that interact with one another and impact one another, whether positively or negatively. Each wedge represents one element of a person’s life. This webpage seeks to provide information, resources and activities to help you improve all components of your wellness.

Why is this important? Just about every experience a person has affects their mental health and sense of wellness in some way, positive or negative. A person’s mental health and sense of wellness greatly influences the way they think, feel and behave. Thus, it impacts their relationships and life in general. Furthermore, it affects their academic and career success.
