Ashley Pate is living her dream. She currently is enrolled in a 2-semester multiple subject teaching credential program at Sacramento State, and actively student teaching this semester. She graduated from Sacramento State University with B.A. in Child Development in May 2012. Making the most of her studies, she took the opportunity to be a student supervisor in a preschool classroom during her junior and senior year. Ashley attended LMC for two years, completing four semesters of general education units before transferring to Sac State.

Ashley commented on her LMC experience, “The Child Study Center at LMC changed who I now am as a student, employee, and future teacher.  Not only was I able to experience having a mentor my first two semesters as a new student, I also grew as a teacher and then became a senior mentor myself.  I was able to apply what I was learning in class by working at the Child Study Center on a daily basis.  The hands-on experience with children that LMC offers is truly the most unique and special thing about their program.”

“The most valuable thing I learned while at LMC,” Ashley shared, “was how to plan and carry out developmentally appropriate group times with preschoolers.  Besides curriculum, I learned how to supply, set up, and organize a safe learning environment for children. I learned how to use conscious discipline, and gained an entirely different language while talking with children.   I now take that valuable language and share it with the staff at at my new preschool at Sac State.  LMC also taught me how to work most importantly with teachers, families, and communities in order to help each child grow and succeed to their fullest potential. Thanks LMC!”
