Our Spring Job Fair 2008 will be on May 7, 2008 10:00 – 1:00 p.m. Last year over 84 employers signed up to participate in this event; we had over 1,900 in attendance. This is one of the biggest job fairs in the area, attended by our students, alumni and surrounding community.

What is the job fair and how does it work?
Various employers from local business community and different levels of government (county, state, and federal) will be present to meet you personally. Their recruiters will provide information regarding their organizations and the types of jobs they are attempting to fill. They will also provide informational brochures, application forms, accept your resumes for consideration and address any employment questions you may have.

Before the Job Fair
Prepare a professional one-page resume. If you don't have one, assistance will be available on the day of the event. Walter Ruehlig a renowned expert in the field of resume preparation and job search techniques will offer several workshops on the day of the event. In addition to this, we'll have members of the Experience Unlimited available to critique resumes as well. Recruiters will not have time to review long resumes.

Before you come to the job fair obtain as much information as possible about the companies that will be participating. For example know their products, services, And employment needs. This information can be obtained through the internet by going to the employers web sites. The list of employers that will be attending our fair will be updated on a regular basis.

For maximum success at the Job Fair:

  1. Arrive as early as possible in order to find location of the employer with which you wish to speak.
  2. Be prepared to ask questions pertaining to the employers and / or a specific job. Also be prepared to answer questions about yourself from the employer.
  3. Obtain informational brochures and business cards from the employer and other job seekers. Remember, job opportunities are where and how you cultivate them.
