| The Los Medanos women’s soccer team is coming off its best season in 2005 after a second consecutive playoff berth to the state championship tournament. 2006 will be a rebuilding season for the Lady Mustangs with only 6 returning players. The program has shown positive growth every year since its inception in the Bay Valley Conference, which consists of LMC, Contra Costa, Solano, Marin, Mendocino, and Yuba colleges.
LMC teams are primarily made up from players of the local high schools: Deer Valley, Antioch, Liberty, Freedom and Pittsburg. A goal of head coach Mark Bryant is to matriculate student athletes to four year schools. “Most players from East County have not been exposed to high caliber soccer where they can make an immediate impact at a
four-year school’s program. Two seasons at the junior college level is a great way to prepare them by improving their skills, knowledge, competitiveness and maturity,” Bryant explained.
