Please excuse the inconvenience but we are expanding!
During the 2007-08 academic year, we are under construction for a Science and Engineering Building and beautifully-landscaped quad area. When construction is completed, East County residents will not only benefit from the enhancement of existing programs, but also long-awaited opportunities for the development of new programs in these fields.

Construction
began: Summer 2004
Thanks to the passage of District and State bond measures, LMC is in the process of completing major construction projects.
Two large buildings -- a new Library and Community Center and Math Building -- opened in June, 2007. A new, state-of-the-art Science and Engineering Building will be open for classes in summer 2008. A student-friendly quad area, linking the new buildings, is scheduled for completion in February, 2008. When construction is completed, East County residents will benefit from enhanced existing programs and the development of new programs in these fields.

Installation of photovoltaic panels
UPDATE:
The solar panel work is a bit ahead of schedule. The work in lot C is almost done for now. The initial work in lot B will begin on Friday, September 21 and end by September 27. Work will begin again in lot C on October 10.
The good news is that, when the project is completed, the panels will be producing a lot of electricity (about 1/3 of our historical use for the entire college prior to the new buildings coming online). This project will affect parking at various times in lots B and C. The panels will provide shaded parking.
Parking will still be available in the overflow lot around the soccer field.
Signs at each parking lot will be used to direct the flow of parking and Police Services will also direct traffic at key points during the construction process, using spaces along the perimeter road for as needed. During this construction period, the A lots will usually be the best choice. When designated employee parking spaces are impacted during this period, employees may park in any legal student or employee space.
This would also be a great time to institute commute alternatives: car pools, public transit, cycling. To view a more
detail timeline of the installation of these panels
please download our PDF
outline.
Parking/Pedestrian Access
Parking lot A is now open. Restoration of the main entrance will gradually be reestablished, beginning in August.
From the east perimeter road (Los Medanos Drive), parking is available in Lot 2A (near the baseball field and tennis courts), Lot B (adjacent to the football stadium), Lot C (close to the Music Building and Bookstore) and the overflow lot by the soccer field at the back of the college. Additional parking is also available along Los Medanos Drive.
For access to the main college complex (including college administration, student services, most classrooms and instructional programs), park in Lot B or Lot C in the back of campus. Daily permits are $2.00 (requiring eight quarters); permit machines are located in lots 2A, B and C.
Disabled Parking: Available in Lots 2A, B, and C.
