The innovative, state-of-the-art online Travel Marketing program at Los Medanos College (LMC) provides an outstanding educational foundation for a successful career in one of the country’s largest industries, Travel and Tourism. While characterized by constant change, the business of travel and tourism continues to grow. Skilled travel professionals continue to fulfill their clients’ dreams of adventure, of cultural exploration and for just plain fun! Opportunities abound for specialists in areas such as cruises, adventure travel, family travel, honeymoons and romance, luxury travel, and group travel.
Travel Agent: $10.71 - $29.10/hour
Travel Guide: $9.11 - $31.23/hour
Concierge: $9.89 - $22.32/hour
For the Associate of Science Degree in Travel Marketing complete the 21 units of coursework listed above as well as the General Education requirement. This degree can lead to placement in positions of greater responsibility in the travel industry. Consult with a Los Medanos College counselor to develop your education plan.
This 21-unit certificate provides a well-rounded education and includes a selection of courses designed to prepare students for placement in a position as a travel professional in the travel industry. Opportunities include employment as a full-service travel consultant in a travel agency or a travel specialist in the selected areas of specialization. This certificate can be completed in two semesters.
The 12-unit certificate provides a good foundation for placement in an entry-level position in the travel industry, such as travel assistant in a travel agency. Required courses are not offered every semester, so careful planning will minimize the amount of time to complete this certificate.
