Engineering Roadmap

Engineering 3-year roadmap for transfer/A.S.

This Roadmap is provided as a SAMPLE GUIDE showing what a full-time student's schedule MAY look like. There is no guarantee that all classes will be offered each semester or that classes will have space available. You must meet all prerequisite requirements prior to registering for a class.

Follow this roadmap to transfer to a four-year university in an Engineering major. This is a sample schedule for planning your classes, but should be individualized for specific majors and universities.

Students may also complete the A.S. degree in Engineering by completing this plan. Consult with a Los Medanos Counselor for help planning your schedule. Vist the Engineering website for more information.

Please check with your LMC Counselor and www.assist.org to modify the plan for you.

* Take these classes only if you have not completed classes in Chemistry or Physics in high school, or are not ready for English Composition or Calculus. CHEM-025 has prerequisites of high school chemistry or CHEM-006, and MATH-030 or Algebra 2 in high school. MATH-040 has prerequisites of MATH-030 or Algebra 2 plus geometry. MATH-050 has prerequisites of geometry and precalculus. PHYS-015 is recommended if you have not completed physics in high school.

**The Engineering major at UC Berkeley requires English 230. English 230 can also satisfy the 2nd English class requirement for all UC campuses and some CSU campuses. Please check with your LMC Counselor and www.assist.org.

***Some Engineering majors at some universities require CHEM 26, and some don't. Please check with your LMC Counselor and www.assist.org for specific campuses.

****Engineering classes should be selected according to specific major and university requirements. Please see www.assist.org and consult with your LMC Counselor.

****Computer Engineering majors may need to complete specific Computer Science classes instead of, or in addition to, Engineering classes. Please see www.assist.org and consult with your LMC Counselor.

GE = CSUGE or IGETC classes selected from Arts & Humanities, Social & Behavioral Sciences, or other areas as needed. Please consult with your LMC Counselor.

This plan is for full-time students who can study 26 to 32+ hours every week outside of class. For successful completion, this plan will require your commitment and excellent time management skills.

Planning for transfer is a complex process. Please consult with your LMC Counselor, professors in your major classes, and university representatives every semester.

These plans do not guarantee acceptance to a university – other factors such as strength of academic preparation and related experience are also important.
