Step 1. Complete and submit an application

If you have not submitted a college application for admission, please do so as soon as possible. Apply online or by mail

Step 2. Assess in English and Math (if necessary)
Assessment means finding out what your strengths and weaknesses are in certain basic college skills. All new students planning to earn an associate degree or transfer to a 4-year college or university must take the assessment tests. Your assessment scores will assist you and the counselor you meet with at your New Student Workshop to determine which courses are appropriate for you. Find out whether you need to take the assessment tests.

The Assessment Center, located in room CC3-524 (on level 3, across from the Admissions Office), is open on a drop-in basis during the hours indicated on the testing schedule. Assessment may also be available at Brentwood Center.

NOTE: If you are a graduating high school student from a local area high school, please contact your school’s Career Center or a school counselor early in the spring semester to schedule appointments to attend an LMC Outreach information session. Assessment testing instructions for high school seniors will be given at that time. Outreach high school visits

Step 3. Attend a New Student Orientation (first-time college students only)

The New Student Workshop will provide you with important information about college programs, services, policies, procedures, and requirements, and is essential for new students. There are three options to choose from:

New Student Workshop A counselor will be present to help you select first-semester classes and provide a brief orientation. Sign up for a New Student Workshop .

Orientation Class (COUNS 030 - 1 unit) Enroll in this class, taught by a counselor, for the best and most complete orientation. Sign up for COUNS 030 through WebAdvisor.

Online Orientation Provides a brief but convenient orientation that should be followed by an appointment with a counselor. Click here for the Online Orientation.

NOTE: If you are a graduating high school student from a local area high school, please contact your school’s Career Center or a school counselor early in the spring semester for information about New Student Orientation exclusively for graduating seniors.

Step 4. Register for classes and pay fees
You may register for your classes online or through the telephone registration system within two working days after attending New Student Orientation. Fees must be paid within 10 business days by Visa or MasterCard, or by check.

Required textbooks and supplies may be purchased from the LMC's Mustang Bookstore. Bring a printout of your class schedule to the bookstore and one of the staff will help you locate the books you need. You may find it even more convenient to purchase books through LMC's Bookstore Online.

Step 6. Make an appointment with a counselor

Early in the semester, make an appointment with an LMC counselor to discuss your educational goal and develop an educational plan. More about Counseling Services.
