Saturday Hours for LRC2 In addition to the Library (LRC3 and 4) being
open on Saturdays from 10am to 2pm, LRC2 is now open on Saturdays from 10am
to 2pm to serve the campus community, Starting August 17, 2006. Staff Changes Vincent Perry came on board as a temporary
replacement for James Stephenson, at least till the end of August. We are in
the process of recruiting for the permanent replacement of James Stephenson
as the Instructional Multimedia Coordinator. With this position, we are
hoping to be more actively engaged in fulfilling the facultyÕs instructional
multimedia needs. The Physical and the
Virtual Library The new library building construction is going
full steel ahead! Construction is due to be completed by mid February 2007
and we are scheduled to move May/June 2007. In the meantime, tens of
thousands of books and hundreds of thousands of articles are available to you
anytime anywhere-check out our virtual library at http://www.losmedanos.edu/LMC_library/default.asp
All you need is your last name and your Datatel ID number. You could even
request reference services 24/7. Simply go here: http://www.losmedanos.edu/LMC_library/ask.html Password HELL/HELP With the changing external environment for
information security as well as continuous incidents that happen on campus,
IT has implemented an updated set of security policies. The one that affects
all of us is the password policy. Since there seems to be confusion galore
regarding our password policy, let us go through the password hell/help to
get to password nirvana J
On the related issue of password lockouts--after
you have two unsuccessful logins, you will be temporarily locked out of your
account for fifteen (15) minutes. During the 15-minute period, IT will not be
able to do ANYTHING to change your password. If you wait out the 15-minute
period, youÕll get another two tryÕs at logging into the network. If you are
still unsuccessful after the second set of two tryÕs, you can contact IT to
have a temporary password issued. More information related to passwords and
security will be distributed later. Changes in Media Center Procedures Over the summer, we have cataloged the majority
of the equipment and resources available in LRC2 into the Library system.
They include laptops, LCDs, CDs, DVDs, calculators, remotes, keys, mics etc.
Videos are next. What this means for you is that an ID card will help speed
up the checkout process. You can acquire an LMC ID card in LRC2 if you donÕt
already have one. SMART classrooms update By
the beginning of the semester, Rooms 225, 226, 228 will be updated to the
current LMC SMART classroom standards with a ceiling mounted project, a
podium that houses a desktop computer, a DVD/VCR combo player, and a control
panel to operate all the equipment. Because of changes in facilities
procedures, Rooms 214, 221 and 296 will be delayed. At this point, we are
hopeful that their conversion to SMART classrooms will be completed by the
beginning of September. If you have any questions about this, please contact 03-Media Support@LMC or call
extension 3454.
