Emergency Preparedness Plan
Emergency Evacuation
To assist instructors, evacuation maps will be posted in most classrooms and in key locations around the main complex, the Child Study Center and the PE area. Information about the evacuation procedures should be reviewed with your students. There may be unannounced practice evacuation drills each semester during the day and evening. During an evacuation, instructors should direct their students to take all belongings for security purposes. Sector leaders have been appointed to walk through their assigned areas to ensure everyone has evacuated the area and that doors are secured. Once you arrive at your assigned emergency assembly site, a site coordinator will share with you the directions issued by Police Services during the entirety of the evacuation. At the appropriate time, your site coordinator will direct you to re-enter the building. Instructors should make sure that students assemble at the correct site and do not re-enter the building until they are directed to do so. Shelter-in-PlaceIf an emergency situation necessitates everyone staying indoors (shelter-in-place), you will be notified of the situation via our public address system and telephone tree. Throughout the shelter-in-place occurrence, the college will continue to communicate with everyone via the public address system and telephone tree. Thanks to all for your cooperation. While we have been fortunate in not having to experience an actual emergency situation, our preparedness will assist us greatly should a real emergency occur.
