welcome event fa17

The LMC EMLS/ESL faculty, counselor, and student Peer Advisory Leaders (PALs) and Peer Tutors, are a talented and dedicated team of professionals and student leaders with a wealth and variety of backgrounds and experiences.

We all share a love for languages and cultures, and we deeply value the opportunities that learning new languages and cultures can bring to our lives. We share this passion with you, our LMC EMLS/ESL students, as we work to help you identify and pursue your own goals, dreams, and passions.

Through our instructional activities, our course materials, and our teaching, advising, and counseling interactions, we work to respectfully and enthusiastically explore and learn about you (our students) and the rich cultures you call your own AND the diverse cultures that make up the U.S. experience as we strive to help you develop your multilingual English language skills, strategies, and confidence.

As your English language proficiency improves and you develop the Habits of Mindthat will help you succeed and excell, we also work to help you realize and take advantage of the many new personal, social, career, and educational opportunities available to you here at Los Medanos College, in our East Contra Costa County communities, in the Bay Area, and beyond.
