College Skills / Certificate of Achievement

The Computer Science Department offers a variety of courses and certificates leading to placement and advancement in all types of jobs. A College Skills certificate will be awarded by the department based on the completion of the Foundation classes (11 units) from Level 1.  A second College Skills certificate will be awarded for the completion of the Core Competencies courses (12 units) from Level 2.  A Microcomputer Systems Specialist Certificate of Achievement will be awarded to those who successfully complete Level 1, Level 2, and 10 units from any of the classes under the Level 3 Specialized Areas. Students also must meet LMC ‘s Math and English requirements.

A Microcomputer Systems Specialist Certificate of Achievement
may be earned by completion of college proficiency requirements and course requirements. Students should have a 2.0 minimum cumulative grade point average.

A College Skills Certificate
will be awarded to students completing the Foundation courses (11 units) from Level 1.

After the Foundation courses have been completed, a second College Skills certificate will be awarded for the completion of the Core Competencies (12 units) from Level 2.

The Certificate of Achievement is achieved when the student completes 10 additional units from any of the specialized areas listed in Level 3 including:

  • A+
  • Forensics
  • Computer Programming
  • Gaming
  • Network / Security
  • Operating Systems Concepts / Application
  • Web Site Development

Other certificate options are available through Computer Science. Students can receive a certificate by enrolling and completing courses in the following areas:
