We are proud to send our "ambassadors" to the travel industry!
An internship is an excellent opportunity for your organization to recruit a highly motivated and well-trained advanced student from our Travel Marketing Program.
We have an excellent internship program and have placed student interns at many travel organizations since we instituted this program in 1991. Our successful internship model has been borrowed by other colleges and has been featured in the The Travel Institute Travel Counselor magazine (now called Travel Professional).
The internship is very valuable for your organization as well as for our advanced travel students. You benefit by getting a trained assistant and have the opportunity to try out a prospective new "employee". The student intern gains valuable "on-the-job" experience and training. Most of our student interns are invited to stay on as employees at the host organization.
We interview and pre-screen our advanced students before we accept them into our competitive Travel Internship Program. The students are knowledgeable about sales techniques, destinations, and other special interest courses based on the selection of elective courses they have completed. Most of the interns have successfully completed The Travel Institutes TAP (Travel Agent Proficiency) Test and many are certified Destination Specialists (DS). Many have also completed our intensive course on selling cruises or The Travel Institutes Certified Travel Associate (CTA) certification.
We invite you to join the list of outstanding organizations that have supported our internship program. Call our Employment Office to add your organization to the list of outstanding internship hosts and to request a student intern. Internships usually begin in March and October for a two-month duration. Recruitment begins a month prior to the start of the internship. The standard internship is 60-75 hours.
