This 21-unit certificate can be completed in two semesters by a full-time student. It builds on the units completed in the Level 1 certificate. This certificate provides well-rounded knowledge of the travel industry to a new entrant aspiring for greater responsibility than a graduate with the Level 1 Skills certificate.  All courses are offered online.

Core Courses (11 units)

Travel 72 – Introduction to Travel (3 units) -- offered every semester
Travel 76 – Travel Sales and Marketing (3 units) -- offered every semester
Travel 77 – Customized Vacation Planning (2 units) -- offered once a year
Travel 95 – Advanced Travel Concepts (3 units) -- offered every semester (Travel 95 assumes basic knowledge of travel industry equivalent to   Travel 72.)

Destination Specialist courses (3 units)

All Destination Specialist courses are offered online on a rotating basis.

Choose one or two of the following courses totaling to 3 units:
Travel 74 – North American Destination Specialist (3 units)
Travel 75 – Western Europe Destination Specialist (3 units)
Travel 83 – Hawaii Destination Specialist (1.5 units)
Travel 84 – Caribbean Destination Specialist (1.5 units)
Travel 85 – South Pacific Destination Specialist (1.5 units)
Travel 87 – Mexico Destination Specialist (1.5 units)
Travel 96 - Alaska Destination Specialist (1.5 units)

These 14 units of core and destination courses are completed by all candidates.

Electives (7 units)
Choose any electives from the Travel Marketing Program to total 7units.

Competency Requirements:
Los Medanos College requires the Level 2 candidate to complete 3 competency requirements to be eligible for graduation.

  1. English competency – This can be achieved by completing English 90 or a higher level English course or by taking the Assessment Test and achieving a high score.
  2. Math competency – This can be achieved by completing Math 9 or Math 12, or a higher level Math course, or by taking the Assessment Test and achieving a high score.
  3. Computer competency – This can be achieved by completing Computer Science 40 or 49 or by taking the Assessment Test and achieving a high score.

It is highly recommended that you take the Assessment Test in these three competencies in your first semester to determine if you can "test out" or if you need to take the course.
