"When I chose the travel industry for my second career, I decided to start taking classes prior to my retirement. I looked into the various travel schools in the San Francisco Bay Area including the Center for Travel Marketing (CENTRAM) at Los Medanos College. Everything that I read and everyone that I talked to pointed me in the direction of CENTRAM.
After taking the Saturday ‘Orientation to Careers in Travel’ class I knew that I had made the correct decision. I immediately learned that the faculty knew their stuff and they were eager to pass on their knowledge to others. They made all of the classes very interesting and fun, which helped, considering I had not sat in a college classroom in 26 years.
Although I have completed my Travel Marketing degree, and am currently working for a local travel agency, I continue to take various Destination Specialist (DS) classes to enable me to better serve my clients. CENTRAM always offers a variety of classes to enhance my career as well as just satisfy my interest in exotic locations around the world."
