The Friends of the Los Medanos College Library is part of the Los Medanos College Foundation. Its purpose is to promote the assets and programs of the library through fundraising activities, volunteerism and public relations. Friends help with: fund raising, publicity, book sales, book sorting, volunteering in the Library, recruitment and assist in planning and executing cultural, intellectual and artistic events and activities such as lectures, performances, displays/exhibits and discussions.

The Fall 2009 FOL Book Sale is Coming Soon!

The Friends of the Los Medanos College Library will be holding their second annual book sale. The sale will feature a variety of books: fiction, non-fiction, classics, science, history, and art. As well as a wide selection of media items such as: CDs, DVDs, and videos. Faculty, students, staff, and the general public are welcome to attend this special event. Payment for materials will be cash only.

Times: Monday-Thursday 8am-8:45pm

Friday 8am-2:45pm

Saturday 10am– 2pm

Location: 2700 E. Leland Rd. Pittsburg, CA 94565- Library Building

BOOK SALE DONATIONS

The Friends of the LMC Library accepts donations of books, video recordings, compact discs and audiocassettes. All donations should be in good, clean condition; we cannot accept items that have been exposed to mildew or water. The Library is most interested in new/recent textbooks, current fiction and non-fiction that might meet the needs of the College's curriculum. The College librarians will evaluate all donations. Items not added to the collections will be placed in the FOL book sales.

    • Annual contribution of $12 - 24. (current students and college employees)

  • Booklover:
    • Annual contribution of $25 - 59. (opening level of membership for LMC retirees and members of the community)
    • Benefits: Annual Reception; Book sale Preview; FOL Newsletter (published twice/year)
    • Borrowing privileges at the LMC Library (1 book per loan period)
  • Bibliophile:
    • Annual contribution of $60 - 119.
    • Benefits: Annual Reception; Book sale Preview; FOL Newsletter (published twice/year)
    • Borrowing privileges at the LMC Library (2 books per loan period)
  • Conservator:
    • Annual contribution of $120 - 299.
    • Benefits: Annual Reception; Book sale Preview; FOL Newsletter (published twice/year)
    • Borrowing privileges at the LMC Library (3 books per loan period)
  • Literary Lion:
    • Annual contribution of $300 or more.
    • Benefits: Annual Reception; Book sale Preview; FOL Newsletter (published twice/year)
    • Borrowing privileges at the LMC Library (unlimited)
