LMC Library Grand Opening
After many years of planning and construction by the campus community, the LMC Library held its Grand Opening ceremony and ribbon cutting for the new library building on September 5th, 2007. Poet and writer Jimmy Santiago Baca was the keynote speaker, and newscaster Diane Dwyer served as Mistress of Ceremonies. |

Some of the New Features at the LMC Library:
- A truly integrated library catalog in which you will be able to locate information about books, videos, CDs and DVDs: in other words, all of our collection. In the 2007-2008 academic year, we will also bring into the library catalog information regarding LMC’s periodical holdings.
- A 1000% increase in seating for students and visitors from 30 to 300
- Five group-study rooms on a reservation basis
- Complete wireless access with laptops available for checkouts
- 100 computer stations for student and public use
- 15 listening/viewing stations for students
- Two self-checkout stations for student and public use
- Access to tens of thousands of online newspaper, journal and reference articles
- Access to 17,000 ebooks
- An advanced digital media room for video conferencing, cable and satellite programming for faculty and staff use
- A faculty reading room with comfy chairs, professional reading materials, Scantron machine, color printer and three development stations
- an 80-seat community room with two community conference rooms
- a modern art gallery
