LMC ALLIES Breaking the Silence Party

The LMC Allies Club will be holding a Day of Silence and movie screening to bring attention to the name-calling, bullying and harassment - in effect, the silencing - experienced by LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender) students and their allies.

There will be a movie showing of "Anyone and Everyone", a documentary by filmmaker Susan Polis Shutz depicting families from all walks of life. Individuals from such diverse backgrounds as Japanese, Bolivian, and Cherokee, as well as from various religious denominations such as Mormon, Jewish, Roman Catholic, Hindu, and Southern Baptist, share intimate accounts of how their children revealed their sexual orientation and discuss their responses.

The Allies group will assemble in front of the cafeteria from 9-2 pm, distributing armbands and Day of Silence explanation cards, and will begin the documentary at 4pm, followed by a discussion.
