Emerging Microcomputer Technologies and Applications is a beginning microcomputer course designed to introduce students to basic microcomputer concepts and operating procedures. The course provides students with a broad survey of microcomputer technology, including basic concepts, applications, and operating procedures. Students will learn the principles of microcomputer applications such as word processing, data base management and spreadsheets using Windows XP, and the Microsoft Office Professional application suite.
In addition, students develop skills using such devices as Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs), digital cameras, sound and video processing, Global Positioning Systems (GPS) and mapping devices.
This class meets the LMC General Education requirements for computer literacy.
