The Los Medanos College Scholarship Office
is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Wednesday 8:00 a.m. - 6:30 p.m., and Friday 8:00 a.m.- 2:00 p.m. The Office is closed generally between 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. for lunch. We are located in Room CC3-440 inside the Admissions Building, next to the Transfer Center. Appointments are not necessary, but are recommended to assure someone is available to assist you. If you require special accommodations (large print, speech to audio), assistance is available in the Hi-Tech Center, CC3-625, ext. 3279.
If you have been awarded a scholarship and need information on how to access your funds, please contact the Scholarship Office. Please note that your registration fees are not paid automatically. You must visit, call, or contact the Scholarship Office to initiate use of your scholarship funds for your educational expenses.

Eva Mills Armstead Memorial Scholarship
One (1) scholarship available at $250.00 per semester.
Criteria:

Continuing student at a two or four-year college/university for 2008-2009.

Must be enrolled at least half-time (6.0 units).

Minimum G.P.A. 2.5.

Strong commitment/service to the community.

A typed 500 word essay describing your commitment to the community and/or services in the community (i.e. campus clubs, volunteer work, church, youth and/or social organizations).

Military and Veterans Benefits Law School Scholarship
Eligible applicants for the Military and Veterans Benefits Law Scholarship include current and former service members of any branch of the U.S. Armed Forces. This may include, but are not limited to, the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, and National Reserves.
Scholarships are also only reserved for students accepted and enrolled for full-time status at an accredited law school in the United States.
Interested students must complete the brief application and submit a 3-4 page essay.
Application period runs each year from May 1st through August 1st.

The Frank H. Buck Scholarship - Applications are now available! Individual scholarship awards range from $9,000 to $50, 000 per year.
Criteria:
- Must reside or attend school in Contra Costa Counties, Solano, Napa, Yolo, Sacramento, and San Joaquin.
- Applicants must show strength of character, enterprise, and personal initiative. Special consideration will be given to those students who are unique, with a strong interest in school or community activities, and those who exhibit an unusual capacity for creative problem solving.
- Financial need is considered; however, The Foundation has awarded, and will continue to award, scholarships to qualified applicants regardless of need.

The Fund for Veterans' Education will provide scholarships for the 2008 and 2009 academic years to help meet the cost associated with higher education for veterans from all branches of the United States Armed Forces who served in Afghanistan or Iraq since September 11, 2001 and who are now enrolled in college or vocational-technical school.
Scholarship recipients are selected primarily on the basis of financial need. In addition, length of military service (number of months and number of tours served) will be considered.
